September Newsletter is Here!

Hot off the Presses and ready to read! Nevins would like to sincerely thank Miller Carbon for his volunteer efforts and green thumb. Miller dedicates several hours in the garden during the week and on the weekends. We continue to have a variety of tomatoes, and peppers still available for our good eats program as well as two raised beds dedicated solely to basil, thyme, oregano, and rosemary. Miller has been instrumental working with Myra’s class with assisting her with overall education on healthy eating and hands on instruction on how to maintain our garden. We are hoping that what has been planted for the fall season will be ready to harvest by October, and we are looking forward to Miller working through the fall and winter months planting seeds for our greenhouse to be ready for spring. Our campus has really improved this summer with continued renovations with newly […]

August 2018 Nevins Newsletter!

We are continuing the tradition of growth that we have established in the past few years, through innovation and commitment to our mission, and that all individuals deserve the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential through employment and community involvement. I would like to highlight our B-3 Supported Employment program. At this time we currently serve over forty individuals in our program, and have successfully trained and employed over half of the participants for gainful employment in the community. Jonathan Martin and his team have been able to put systems in place to assure the needs of the individuals are met through person centered thinking and choice. Thank you to all employers that have been instrumental for creating opportunities and making a difference in our individuals lives.   We had sent a notice out earlier this summer on how we can improve our communication to our families, caregivers, and participants. April Newsletter is here!

April 2018 Nevins Newsletter! March was Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and Nevins had the opportunity to celebrate and showcase our commitment to providing quality services and educating others on the opportunities that Nevins has to offer. Nevins attended the Metro School and East Mecklenburg Transitional Fairs, and these two events offered options for families and the support they need for post-secondary success for students needing ongoing services. We look forward to connecting with the families again in the future!   Our 2nd Annual Chili-Cook off was a huge success! Thank you to everyone that came out to support Nevins, and thank you to our Nevins team, Rudy, Gail and Delores for a near perfection chili they prepared. $1,300 was raised, and this will help fund our 1st. Annual beach trip to Myrtle Beach for our staff and individuals that Nevins supports on May 4-6. Download the whole Newsletter here!
