The month of September was busy for sure. Friday, September 13th, 2019 was a very memorable day. The City Of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County Celebrated Nevins Inc. Day and 60 years of creating opportunities. Nevins would like to thank our families, staff, stakeholders, volunteers, and board of directors for helping make this day very special. As we continue to move forward in 2019 with our on-going celebrations, we assure everyone that we remain committed to continue providing the quality care and a strong support network to each individual that Nevins supports. We are very happy that CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) International has announced that Nevins, Inc. has been accredited for three years for its Community Employment Services in Job Development and Employment Supports, and Community Integration programs. Throw back dance to 1959, celebrating our 60th! Join us as we ring in fall with another great Nevins Dance and mark our 60th year of service! We will be dancing and having a great time celebrating our Nevins Community. Dress like you might have 60 years ago when Nevins was new and dance with us! Featuring the Nevins Art and Craft Show! Come take home an example of our wonderful creative side or dried herbs from our own Garden!

September 13th. is closing in on us, and we are very excited to announce that this day has been designated as Nevins Day by the City of Charlotte! A proclamation has been awarded to Nevins for 60 years of service in Mecklenburg County, and we want to share it with you all of you. We will have guests of honor, but more importantly we invite all parents, guardians, group homes, providers and stakeholders to help us celebrate this special day. Nevins was founded in 1959 by a group of parents who were determined to improve the quality of life for their developmentally disabled children as they grew into adulthood. Fighting against the trend to institutionalize, the group started a school for vocational and recreational training, including the first direct service training center in the Carolinas. It seems every month of this fantastic 60th anniversary year is full of great happenings at Nevins! Learn all about it by subscribing and reading the Nevins Newsletter! It has been a great summer so far for our staff and individuals we serve! Elevation Church wrapped up the final week of July for their Love Week here at Nevins, and I know that August will bring a lot of smiles and joy to individuals we serve. Nevins has had a lot of staff and individuals come and go throughout the years. In the last 3 years Nevins has had 2 staff retire with over 25 years of service, and 1 with just over 20 years. However, Nevins individuals retire as well. Wayne B has been attending Nevins since 1976 in some capacity, and July 31st was his last day however, it never known to us that how this big time has passed […]

Our July Newsletter is ready for prime time! Check out all the great happenings at Nevins Inc. As we begin our new fiscal year, it’s been rewarding to know that we have accomplished what we had set goals for this past year. Nevins has hired a Director of Development and Strategic Partnership position, we have upgraded our fleet of vans by adding an additional van to our fleet, Administration and Technology upgrades, EHR (Electronic Healthcare Record keeping software), over 65% job placement for our disabled population through supported employment services and Nevins Inc. has had over 33% growth with delivering quality services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We continue to receive encouraging feedback from family members, friends and longtime supporters of Nevins, and I am excited to look ahead in our new fiscal year.
